Faceshift is a facial performance capture and scanning software relying on video and depth information. We evaluating this software for use in a booth or as a portable capture system that can be used to rapidly capture and process our medium fidelity facial capture requirements.
Having the capture, analysis, and editing in one application was very convenient. The UI is sensible and easy to use for the most part. There are many settings and options that the UI is trying to manage and I think they did a good job of laying them out to the user. There are some order of operations requirements when changing templates, profiles, and shape sets. The ability to stream what is being tracked to other applications was a great feature.
We mocked up what we would need in a booth to do this on a large scale at the best quality possible. I put together this camera and lighting setup on a monitor arm.
